The castle was built between 1712 - 1717 by the architect Lukas von Hildebrand as a summer residence for Friedrich Karl von Schönborn and now houses the restaurant and the clubhouse.
The 104 hectars of superb park land were converted, in 1989, into a perfect Golf complex which combines sport with the extraordinary experience of nature and history.
The Schönborn landscape has been elegantly incorporated into the layout of the golfcourse.
The Course
Two thirds of the 27 Hole Championship Course are within the Castle walls and can easily compete with best courese in Europe and the USA. Internationally acclaimed as one of the Finest Golf Courses of the World. In 2009 Austrian Golfers voted Schönborn the best Course in Austria, for the fifth time.
The World Travel Awards, awarded in 2009 „Best Austrian Golf Course“ to Golfclub Schloß Schönborn.
